East Med Rally Delivery Trip - Plan Review
Posted at 1:31 PM, Monday, November 14, 2005
We've investigated best route and ports and our draft plan is now as follows:
Crew of four - Self, Sue, Marcus Tetmar and Gerry Pentleton. Expect a mixture of conditions in April from dead calms to gales.
Departure - Palma Mallorca on 2nd April 2006 and head direct to Carloforte in Sardinia. Estimate this leg will take 36 hours and we'll stoppover for night.
Exit onward to Sicily early on the 5th expecting a repeat 36 hour leg. ETA midday 6th to one of the north coat ports. Another nights stoppover should allow us to refill on fuel and depart dawn 7th to do the Messina straights and onward over to Patras in Greece.
Assume this will be longest delivery leg of maybe 2.5 days.
If the routing plans are correct, we should therefore arrive Partra early 9th and the crew can relax whilst I sort our Greek cruising permit and more fuel.
We'll hope to move on early 10th and transit Corinth Canal by night and then onward across Agean to Turkish west coast.
If we aim for Ayvalik in Edremisk Bay and are delayed for whatever reason, we can simply park up in Ayvalik and wait for the Rally to come down to us. If so the crew will have to bus it to Istanbul. If we on the other hand arrive with time in hand, then we'll sail onward towards the Rally Start at Atakoy Marina, Istambul, set for 23rd April.
Well that's the plan.................
Cheers
