Come on in and say hello via a 'comment'. We've cruised our Hanse 46' sailboat from UK to Egypt to the Caribbean mainly two handed from 2004 to 2008 and enjoyed every minute. We are back temporarily in the UK - but sunshine beckons us again for summer 2009.

Parked Up on Outside of Club Nautico - Ibiza Town

Posted at 8:59 PM, Wednesday, July 6, 2005

You can see Ibiza Castle on the hill behind - the old town below is where all the action is at night.

You can also just see the double ledge of the quay behind our transom - a danger point for all who moor stern to.  You do need to get close to be able to step ahore from paserrel / plank or transom - but not so close as to ram your rudder or transom against the stone quay each time the swell from the multiple passing ferry's.  We get one each 10 minutes and with ferry dock alongside - they are close.

Fortunately - our passerell tied to the boarding ladder allowed us easy access to the quay.  Many others used long planks of rough wood that are provided on the quay for this usage.  Take care when fixing one to your yacht as the abrasion will mark a timber deck or washboards - and they can fall off and jam twix boat and jetty.

I know this sounds a horror story and of course it is really not too bad - but forwewarned / forearmed etc.

Cheers

JOHN
