Swagmans Sailing Blog

Come on in and say hello via a 'comment'. We've cruised our Hanse 46' sailboat from UK to Egypt to the Caribbean mainly two handed from 2004 to 2008 and enjoyed every minute. We are back temporarily in the UK - but sunshine beckons us again for summer 2009.

Swagmans 2007 Cruising Plan

Posted at 10:01 AM, Thursday, November 2, 2006

We've settled our cruising plan for next year and it is looking like this:

Pre May - various visits to slip and prep boat

end May - cruise Kemer to Mamaris (Turkey)

June - cruise Mamaris (Turkey) to Hydra (Greece)

July - cruise Hydra (Greece) to Corfu then Montenegro and Croatia

August - cruise Croatia to Sicily (Italy) to Balearics (Spain)

September - cruise Balearics to Denia (Spain) and onto Gibraltar, Lagos (Portugal) and Canaries - then back to UK by air.

Year end - hopefully cruise Canaries and prep for ARC crossing to St Lucia (Carribbean).

Anyone got any tips on special places we should cover on this passage plan?  Already aiming to cruise into Venice under sail; maybe stopover in Albania; re-visit Kasiopia on Corfu where 20 years back we used to look at others sitting on yachts..........and explore southern Sicilian coast.

All suggestions on other spots really appreciated.

Ohhhhya!  Who's a lucky bunny eh?

JOHN

Hello John and Susan,

We wish you happy winter & easy nice winds in 2007. We are in Izmir, our home. We had visitors Kelebek, Onset and Apria last weeks and Marjo is on the way to Izmir from France by car.

We like to read your logs and to view your beautiful photos.

Our best regards,

Great to hear from you via the blog and we too wish you pleasant winter months and a good new year.
Nice also to learn you've caught up with some others from EMYR 2006. We heard in Kemer last week that John and Pricilla on Apria has had an anchoring incident and picked up some damage.
Trusting they and their yacht are all OK.
Take care
JOHN

Sailing Trip 2007

Posted by Belly,Rox,Tayla,Chya&Kai at 1:06 PM, Monday, December 4, 2006

Hi John and Sue,
Just read your sailing itinerary for next year and just had to say WOW! It sounds fantastic and something that we can only dream about, maybe one day we could fly over and join you but that won't be for quite a few years when the kids get older. Hope Robbie can join you though. Enjoy your Xmas and Say Hi to Rob.
Enyoy your sailing,
Belly,Rox,Tayla,Chya&Kai...

Hi Roxy and Belly

Its great to hear from you both.
We know by now you already caught up with Rob and Louise when they were in Perth and they've shared the pictures of you both.
Rox - we think you look as lovely as you always were - and the kids look great!
Belly - now what can we say about you?

And why think you have to wait to bring the kids out for a sail in the wider world? Our two don't seem to know how to make grandchildren (yet) so Sue and I are always up for a couple of surrogate grandkids - especially yours (well at least for a week or two).

We'll be out in the Carib next spring - and we're sure to do Antigua Race Week.

Does this sound tempting to you? If so let us know.

Anyway - if you want to communicate direct by email use s.allison@erauk.net - right up until next May. In the meantime we'll be setting up a direct yacht email likely to be mail@yachtswagman.com - but its not operational yet. If you send us your email now - we'll reply once we've got that new one set up.

For now, hoping you all had a great Xmas yourselves, and remind everyone down the pub/club we've not forgotton Freo - nor ever will.

Love and Kisses
JOHN and SUE

Ooops - deleted blog page by mistake

Posted by swagman at 8:37 AM, Friday, January 12, 2007

Sorry to those who added a comment to the page where we listed our 2007 winter tasks.......Barb from USA was one, but can't recall all others.
I went to update the list of tasks with actions, and somehow (dum dum) deleted the whole thing.
Apologies again
JOHN
