A new Hanse 370e [built in epoxy] is being prepared for it's maiden voyage - from South of France to Malta.

Ziffa arrives in Malta

Ziffa is now moored in Malta. We had issues with our GPRS connection hence updates were not being posted. In due course I will post pictures & trip log

Fast Crossing from St Tropez to Elba

After being stuck in France for 3 days, we left St Tropez in 30knots gusting 40knots with a decreasing forecast. Indeed the wind did go down but to 25 knots.  Notwitstanding it was a very fast crossing averiging 9.5knots with a maximum speed of 12.5Knots!

22 Hours later we were safely docked in Elba!!

The weather in Elba was simply not with us and were once again stuck for 2 days!

Mast Stepped

Today the mast has been stepped! Ziffa is now in the water. Tomorrow we do all sea trials and prepare for the trip back to Malta. It was a very exciting day as all the hard work of the past days came together. What a nice 24 metre mast!!

Preparation is well underway. Antifouling has been sprayed, all electronics, passarelle, dvd system and other toys all installed. Although there was a rainy forecast the weather was with us and did not rain. Tomorrow Ziffa will be launched and the mast stepped. Shawn

Ziffa has made the journey all the way from Germany to the South of France where now it will be prepared for the trip to Malta. All is going as planned. The striking lines added a nice touch to the south of France (and some traffic too)

Hanse 470e in detail

Once inside the new Hanse 470 its abundance of style cannot fail to make a lasting impression. Clarity rules the cockpit where elegance and functionality are inseparable. Every sense is alerted to the fact of speed. That exclusive sailing pleasures begins here. Halyards and sheets are fully integrated into the deck, the self-tacking jib track is counter set in front of the mast, all hatches are flush with the deck. The sprayhood fully integrated into the cockpit emphasises the effect of lots of space and an extremely tidy deck.

Special attention was paid to the Hanse 470 sailing characteristics. Especially in light wind the boat has a speed potential far above average. Preparation is at full swing! In the next days we'll fly to France to take ownership and commission this new vessel from Hanse. A lot of expectations and both owner & crew are all excited . We just can't wait to be there!
