Denia, Kuhlingsborn and Budapest

Have returned to Denia after a week in Budapest attending the TCM Group annual general meeting where I completed my term as Chairman/Director after a two year stint.Unfortunately I am only here for one night and then back to NZ for 10 days. It was good to catch up with our many old friends from around the world and it will be a different shareholding position going forward now I am no longer on the board. Ulf and Irene Giebel our very good friends from Germany also attended the conference and Ulf and I were elected "honorary" directors for life in recognition of our contributions to the Group. Ulf and Irene who were so good to us in Kuhlingsborn are pictured below, with Pam, in the cockpit at the new Kuhlingsborn marina with their apartment in the background.
We left Denia to go to Budapest on Sunday 14th May after an absolutely hectic few days on the boat getting new gear on, attending to a myriad of small jobs left over from last year and checking over all the systems, going for a motor down the coast and so forth to make sure everything is AOK.. Pam and I spent a good part of one day getting the mainsail back on the boat - the batt car system is very good but time consuming when reinstalling back onto the mast and very heavy so it was a combination of some interesting block and tackle stuff off the winch and brute strength.
The watermaker arrived in Denia while we were in Budapest and Peter the German electrician has started the installation job which should be finished later this week. (now Saturday 20th May). We met with him this morning to discuss and agree on where it should be installed and he will also complete the wiring for the new sound gear.
Now backon the boat and to fold-up bikes. Pam is pictured below and also the newly installed paraselle (boarding platform) can be seen.It is very helpful and saves the metre odd jump across to the aft deck.
The weather continues to be good with temps in the high 20's and water temp a bit over 21 acording to the screen. The boat got very dirty on the deck while we were in Budapest with obviously strong winds from North Africa bringing much red dust so Pam has had a cleaning afternoon.
As you might imagine everywhere around Denia and through to Valencia is covered with orange groves. What we have also found though along the coast is an area of thousands of acres of ricefields.I suppose that when the national dish is paella rice has to come from somewhere.
Also installed the new vertical headsail battens that North Sails in NZ made and the local sailmaker only had to complete the sewing. Headsail hoisted and furled and all looking a lot better shape than previously.
Went shopping this morning for a colour printer so Pam can do some work while I am away. HP printer - very good price.
Thats all for now and will resume in about 10 days when I return to Denia and we finally depart although Denia is an excellent marina and the people friendly.
Cheers
Keith
