Jul. 10, 2010 - Young sea dogs and seals |
This was the perfect week-end for Alex, 7, Charlotte, 7, and Theo, 5, to enjoy their first sleepover on Myfawny.
Destination, a tiny creek up the Walton Backwaters where we'd heard that seals may be waiting for us!
And they were there, so many of them basking in the sun and diving around the boat that we did not dare go swimming in the river! We managed our way up the creek at high tide and anchored right in front them until the ebb reminded us we ought to find some deeper water for the night.
The next day, great sunshine and plenty of wind from the south-west to push us back into Harwich harbour. So much wind, we ended up sailing with the jib alone so the kids could still enjoy the deck. Final pleasure for the kids was some crabbing off the boat in front of Pin Mill before we returned to Levington where Ian was waiting for us.
