There are two wonderful events coming up at Pin Mill
Annual Barge Match
Weekend of July 1st starts off Pin Mill on the Saturday. Why not take a boat for the long weekend to soak up the atmoshpere as these lumbering creatures assemble for the race. Then on Saturday anchor near the startline to see them go past then follow them out to sea. Pray for strong winds to see the beautiful old working boats show how fast they can go. This is as close as you can get to travelling back in time. All you have to do is narrow your eyes to block out all the plastic boats on their moorings and apply your imagination!
For example, to take Myfanwy for Saturday and Sunday would only use 96 points.
Pin Mill SC Smack Race. 8th July
This will be the first event of its kind for Smacks and ex-working craft based upon the Orwell, Stour or Deben rivers.
There is a class for bermudan rigged boats if you want to join in, or once again you can watch from the ideal vantage point of a beautiful classic yacht.
Don't watch from the bank, get out there! All you have to do if you aren't already a member is download an application form and send off with the subscription level of you choice (Memberships start at £500. (See here for full details)
