OliviasMain Cabin: Before and After Headliner

Easter weekend, and the tribe went over to the other side of the valley for an early (proposed) Easter egg hunt. I however, got to stay here and work on a few projects, with the idea that a late season cold front would be coming in sometime Saturday, bringing temperatures in the 40's, wind and rain. Late season cold fronts are pretty common, but one of this magnitude is unusual.

Friday I worked cutting and fitting the new headliner, getting it all in place. Around 2230 I was pretty well done, and I sat outside munching a perfectly cooked bratwurst sandwich, listening to the quiet of the warm evening. A perfect end of the day.

Saturday I got up fairly early and ran around town getting the small parts I needed to finish the project. Later I stained the 1/8 ash plywood (as well as myself and various other unprotected parts of the cabin), and trimmed out the seams with polypropolene rope.

The day was gray and ominous, and around 1800 the rain began to fall in earnest. I changed clothes and headed over to Bueno Bye with a seis-pak of Tecate and visited with Kay and Jimmy for some time. Around 2100 I headed back to 'Div in the rain and wind.....the temperature had dropped a good 20 degrees and I suddenly had a chill as I fled down the dock to the boat, which was riding high on the moorings in all of the storm driven water. Inside I switched on the heater, and stretched out for awhile before D came and took me back to the house.

It stayed cold all day Sunday, and part of yesterday as well, but has now warmed up into the upper 70's, low 80's.....it's supposed to be in the 90's by weeks end, so it looks like I will be dusting off the AC and installing it in the special companionway hatchboards again.......

I guess that front was the last mango in Paris.....

There's a minor amount of work left on the headliner project, a few tiny pinholes to patch where I caught several annoying leaks as well as a few other relatively small projects to finish before, hopefully hauling out next week.

Might even try and get in a sail if the weather cooperates.....

Stand by for more fun.

The Captains Profile:

Some men and women are born great, some achieve greatness and some slit the throats of any scalawag who stands between them and unlimited power. You never met a man - or woman - you couldn't eviscerate. You are the definitive Man of Action, the CEO of the Seven Seas, Lee Iacocca in a blousy shirt and drawstring-fly pants. You’re mission-oriented, and if anyone gets in the way, that’s his problem, now isn’t? Your buckle was swashed long ago and you have never been so sure of anything as your ability to bend everyone to your will. You will call anyone out and cut off his head if he shows any sign of taking you on or backing down. If one of your lieutenants shows an overly developed sense of ambition he may find more suitable accommodations in Davy Jones' locker. That is, of course, IF you notice him. You tend to be self absorbed - a weakness that may keep you from seeing enemies where they are and imagining them where they are not.
