The Third Coast

• Nov. 27, 2006 - Rocking around the Christmas piling

It's been pretty busy around here for the last several weeks, and I haven't had a chance to take Olivia dancing for awhile.

I feel guilty.

I have however, been keeping up on projects (to a small extent) and some routine maintenance. I am going to finally tackle the oil change this evening, and recently have added a new nav station as well as a book shelf in the mid cabin area.

This past weekend we went to Corpus Christi to meet up with Sean and Denise who will be cruising with us in '08 when we head South. Sean owns a 32 Choy Lee and is in the process of upgrading and shaking down as well....

I bought a few things at West Marine up in CC, including some spreader boots, and maybe, just maybe, I can get Dee to go up there and attach them,,,,,,

Saturday is the annual Port Isabel boat parade, and we will be stringing lights all over Olivia this week. I have an 1800 watt generator at home that will power the whole shebang. In addition, I got shanghi'ed into being the MC for the event, so it should be an interesting evening. Stand by. You can view the route here

Yep. Should be real interesting, what with the depth of the channel having been reduced to "severe grounding" status, and a forecast cold front coming in Thursday or Friday bringing 40 knot winds and (for Texas) cold weather (40's), there should be great moaning and gnashing of teeth trying to pull the thing off...

I am still hoping to haul out before Christmas. Just need to generate a few more boat units.

The Captains Profile:

Some men and women are born great, some achieve greatness and some slit the throats of any scalawag who stands between them and unlimited power. You never met a man - or woman - you couldn't eviscerate. You are the definitive Man of Action, the CEO of the Seven Seas, Lee Iacocca in a blousy shirt and drawstring-fly pants. You’re mission-oriented, and if anyone gets in the way, that’s his problem, now isn’t? Your buckle was swashed long ago and you have never been so sure of anything as your ability to bend everyone to your will. You will call anyone out and cut off his head if he shows any sign of taking you on or backing down. If one of your lieutenants shows an overly developed sense of ambition he may find more suitable accommodations in Davy Jones' locker. That is, of course, IF you notice him. You tend to be self absorbed - a weakness that may keep you from seeing enemies where they are and imagining them where they are not.
