Mishaps and Memories

Oct. 11, 2006 - filling boats with junk

Last night I went over to Maggie on the way home from work to get all our personal stuff off the boat, firstly to make it easier for the surveyor, and secondly so that she is ready to be taken away by the new buyers....

I was gobsmacked at how much stuff we'd built up onboard..... it took me nearly 4 hours to offload all our personal belongings, and numerous trips between the boat and the car with the trolley..... The car was stuffed to the gills, and I didn't get home until gone midnight....

Mind you... she now sits a inch higher on her waterline!

I also dropped the key (our one and only key - something else i'd meant to deal with!) in an envelope and into the marina post box.... its not the most secure of postboxes, and so I phoned them nervously this morning to check that they'd received it... all OK... phew...

So now, the survey... not sure what day its going to be yet....

Oct. 12, 2006 - Yacht sale

Good luck with the survey, I hope the sale goes through for you without a hitch.. Looking through the advert the boat seems amazingly fitted out for 18k. I havent seen any other boats near to that spec in the mags recently. Were you not tempted to go for a higher price?? Great website. Are you going to continue your site after the boat has been sold? Thanks for the interesting reading. Richard Peevor

Oct. 12, 2006 - sale

I hope the sail goes through without a hitch too!

Yes, she was well equipped for the price, but we wanted to sell her, and it was a fair price, for what is a great little boat.

More importantly, she's received loads and loads of care and attention, (which has cost me not a lot more than my time) and it shows. I think this is what has sold her so quickly.....

Yes, the blog will be continuing.... I find it strangely therapeutic to write it down, although it can be a bit monotonic on occasions!.... its been fun for us to, to go look back at last years sailing, and be reminded of the little details that would have otherwise been lost in the mist of fading memory!
