The Adventures of S/V Holding Pattern

Mar. 4, 2007 - Dinghy Outing

The dinghy went for an adventure today...by itself.  I came back from filling water jugs and was preparing to empty them into our tanks.  Heather was on the phone with Tammy who lives on pier 12.

"The dinghy is floating away" Heather says

I turn and take a look, "mm-hmm, so it is."

Well, this is a first.  I debated jumping in and swimming after it.  It's windy, cold, and the water isn't too hospitable anyway.  So I looked up and down, Greg's dinghy was on the dock but his truck was gone... so I call Randy on Moonrise.

"Randy, can you do me a favor?"

"Sure, whatcha' need?"  ...Don't you love when people agree without asking?  That's the mark of a true friend...

"Go climb in Greg's dink, start it up, and go rescue ours.  It's floating away."

Randy laughs, "Sure."

Thankfully Greg had told us the stories of him forgetting to tie off his dinghy 3 times this summer.  So I felt okay leaving him voicemail.. "I pulled a Greg.  Randy's using your dink to go get ours."

I think he will understand what I meant...

Heather is diong quite well.  She got off the boat and went to breakfast this morning.  Everyone at the diner was asking about her.  She'll be back to normal in no time.
