Blustery and incoming rain, a good time to catch up on things...
Heather has surgery on Tuesday for a hernia. That will be one problem solved. Otherwise she was given a clean bill of health...the other problem having remedied itself in the week between Dr. visits. It is outpatient surgery and she will be sequestered in the cabin for a week or so until her follow-up. Then she is going to fly up to Ohio for a week or so and visit family/escape the temptation to do anything strenuous onboard. I will stay behind on the hook with the cats and get some work done...plus I have a job or two in the yard. She will be on light duty for 4-6 weeks.
Lattitudes & Attitudes magazine purchased an article I submitted. Will post more when I know issue/more details.
We're retro-fitting all of our cabin lights, navigation lights, anchor light, etc. with LED's. Found ultra-bright 12v ready, resistors built-into the LED's. Remove the existing wiring, affix the LED's, and re-wire. Sinple, quick, and our power consumption has dramatically decreased. The cabin lights used to draw 1 amp/hour. Now they draw .25 (1/4) amp/hr and are just as bright. Replacing 6 lights for $25 or so...try to price an LED anchor light...they want $200+ and we can't afford that.
A good friend and regular visitor to HP, Davey, is going to donate his spring break (he's a science teacher) to us as crew. Heather will be deck fluff for a week and Davey and I are going to crew HP up the coast, probably to Beaufort, SC. We'll drop in on St. Mary's, GA, and probably stay a day then overnight it to Beaufort and spend a day or so sightseeing before Davey has to return home. That leaves us built-in weather windows and down-time. This isn't a delivery, it is fun amongst friends.
So, I guess today's notion would be SANS SOUCI, no worries.
