We have a $15 voucher for Pizza Hut. Seemed like a viable option.
Inbetween the piers it's nice, the wind has been blowing 10-20 all day but pretty smooth. River looks fairly smooth as well.
Wrong.
We got out from the pier and had 2' rolling waves very close together so it became a wicked chop. Wind, current, and waves coming head-on. No biggie, we'll find our speed and make the best of it. No doing. We got drenched. Waves breaking over Heather's head and smacking me in the face.
We decided to turn around about 1/2 mile into the 4 mile trip. On the way back we had following seas, wind, and current and the dink wanted to surf over the waves...except they were cloe enough together that we dropped between a couple.
That's when we decided to throttle up, be irresponsible, and get a roller coaster ride. Rising up the wave at mid-throttle, I would accelerate to full throttle and rocket us off of one crest. Sometimes we hit the crest of the next, sometimes we just pounded and flew through the next wave. Our stomachs got left behind a few times. Wheeee. We were already wet, what more could be done?
Much fun was had. No pizza, but much fun.
Happy Valentine's Day. A roller furler for Christmas, lazy jacks for Birthday, and a wild dink trip for Valentines Day. What more could a cruising chick want? Hey, she asked for them all!
