The Adventures of S/V Holding Pattern

Dec. 3, 2006 - The Time Is Near

We're almost ready to splash.  The stand patches have been ground out, epoxied, painted first coat.  The prop has been finished and is ready to be put back on the shaft.  The zinc anode for the rudder bolts has been replaced... I needed metric and had a hard time finding what would fit...walking along frustrated I saw a zinc anode lying discarded in the bin...a nearly perfect anode, 90% of its zinc sill left,so I took it out of the bin, tried it on for size and it fits!

We're waiting for the ProFurl roller furling to arrive.  Sold the old Harken Unit 2 this morning.  Sell one to finance the other.  Also will replace the zincs in the engine and refrigeration while we're out on the hard - don't have to close any thru-hulls or such.  Should be a faster job that way - but no task on a boat goes as planned.  We also need to repair a rip in the jib, that can be done inside any evening.

Besides that, we're done.  We should be back in the water by Wed. at the latest.
