The Adventures of S/V Holding Pattern

Oct. 28, 2006 - Ready, Set,

Everything necessary is stowed.

The engine is ready.

The sails are ready.

We are ready.

The winds are wicked.  Seas are high.  So we're waiting for our weather window.

We had gale force winds last night with torrential rain.  Today is beautiful skies but wind is blowing 25+ steady.  Wind gen is loving it.  Solar panels are doing well.  Fridge is nice and cold.  Batteries will be topped off by days end.  Since we're caught up on everything we may shower early, sit back and watch a movie tonight,  make some popcorn and really live like kings!

Heather is doing some chartwork and planning for the Exumas.  Looking forward to Allen's Cay with iguanas, the numerous other islands with blue holes, caves, ruins to explore.  I'm going to have to be very, very disciplined with $ work.  I am going to have to use my time wisely so I can get paid and still cruise/explore.

We need to make another water run to top things off, make a few last minute arrangements in the cockpit, and hopefully we're off with the tide... that is whichever day the wind settles down.  Seas at the Fernandina Sea Buoy were 11'.  That's a little sloppy going out the inlet.  Seas are going to be prety confused as 20-35mph winds clock around from W through N to NE, going to E in a day or so.

We'll just be patient, get a project done onboard, get ahead on $ work, wait it out, then off we go!  Huzzah!
