The Adventures of S/V Holding Pattern

Oct. 24, 2006 - Procrastination Bites Back

We've been holding off on getting out our winter clothes, the fleece and warm weather gear.  It's not been necessary but for a select night or two.  Plus this IS Florida in October, right?

Wrong.

41 degrees this morning with gale force winds and similar temps are expected through next week.  Procrastination really bit us in the behinds.  Win one, lose one.  Even Steven.

Still cool by me.

We have to dig through lockers and behind-cushion storage to find our necessary gear and probably launder some of it after being stored for so many months on HP.  I put on tennis shoes this morning, promptly took them off.  Since I haven't worn anything but sandals, crocs, or topsiders in the last 2 to 3 years, tennies just felt awful.  So I figured I'd go with something else.  Walked outside, turned around and walked back in, put on socks and tennis shoes.  I know when one form of comfort outweighs another.

Now I know many will have no mercy on my whining about the chill in the air... some of you are dealing with snow.  Oh well.  I am cold-sensitive, tender, call it what you will.  I am thin and my two fat cells just don't cut it on these days.  I'm a tropical soul, I'd rather sweat than shiver...that way you can just hop in the water to cool off.  That's why functional begins with FUN.
