The Adventures of S/V Holding Pattern

Aug. 21, 2006 - This, That, & the Other

Yet another multi-blog.

What's New??

Decisions, decisions...we were going to leave St. Mary's today.  Not gonna hapen.  Made friends with Kim & Scott on Anthyllide, a couple our age... nice to meet ourselves on another boat.  Also Tanya & Marion on Winterhawk are coming back tomorrow.  AND, Dwayne & family on Wet Dreams are coming into town as well.  So looks like we're here for a while...

We sold the CQR anchor.  Not fans of the design.  Got a Bulwagga instead.  Will do a few tests and report back.  It gets tremendous ratings and everyone who has one raves about it.

Work is work.  Nothing to write home about.

And long term plans???

Houston, we've made long range plans.  Holy Infrastructure, Batman!  Ok, here goes... November we're going to head back south, destination Titusville.  Will get a slip for a few days ($$) and go back to visit family.  Upon returning, we will have HP hauled out in the yard where we plan to do the bottom paint, fix a few spots on the deck, examine all 300' of chain for stress & re-mark it, etc.  Probably 2 weeks in the yard.  Then... (drumroll, please)  on to the Bahamas & Caribbean for the season.  Internet/work can still take place in the islands...

So there it is, the long range plan which will take us up to next hurricane season...

It's a HIT

Every morning we try to take a walk.  And every morning that we do we see a woman riding her bike like she's leading the Tour de France.  We always wave to each other.  We saw her Friday.  Then we saw the car back over her, bike and chick fly from rear of car over the hood.  We tried to call 911 but the Sprint service would not connect (tirade saved for them...)

Biker got up and walked around but she was dazed, bloody, and bruising within 1 min, of being hit.  Broken ribs for sure.

Now get this... the girl who did the hitting got out of her car and said... (drumroll again...)   "I see you riding every day.  every day!"  Heather whispers to me "She didn't see her today..."  Then the girl keeps saying that she has never even hit a squirrel.... and so she goes for a human for her first car-creature interface.  We stayed with her until the ambulance arrived.  We haven't seen her riding since.

Music while typing: The Ramones

Read, not proofed.  Need to get back to real ($$) work and not screw around.
