May. 21, 2007 - Plans For The Trip To Vlissingen
Exchanged e-mails with Al Jones today. He is sourcing us a life raft and an EPIRB for the crossing to Vlissingen and he confirmed that was going ahead okay. He is also going to find a fourth crew member for the trip
Then had a phone call from Peter Randall to check everything was still on for next week. Peter is the Delivery Skipper who will be accompanying us. I phoned the marina in Vlissingen to check on availability for a berth on the Wednesday night and beyond. The Dutch Harbour Master spoke perfect English and said “no problem”! We can also stay almost as long as we like. So will probably leave Emjaytoo there until the 9th June and then move her to Delta Marina. Only problem is it’s a bit pricey - €12-50 per night - Ha Ha!!
I had been getting a bit apprehensive about the crossing. After Saturday’s sail I was wondering what 20 hours of beating into 25 knots of wind would be like! Anyway now it’s all starting to come together I am feeling a lot happier about it and definitely looking forward to it.
